Sticks’n’Sushi is growing across every market and closing in on £1 billion in revenue

The story of Sticks’n’Sushi began in Copenhagen in 1994, when Thor Andersen and brothers Kim and Jens Rahbek Hansen opened the first restaurant on Nansensgade. The restaurant is still there today and was among the first in Denmark to specialise in sushi.
Today, the group operates more than 30 restaurants across Copenhagen, Berlin, London, Cambridge, Oxford, Manchester and Glasgow.
It was the latter two cities that we reported on a year ago as part of the company’s plans to maintain momentum, with revenue and the bottom line both continuing to move in the right direction.
That expansion, together with the broader development across restaurant dining, delivery, takeaway and catering, helped make 2025 another strong year.
In 2025, Sticks’n’Sushi recorded annual revenue of more than £100 million for the first time, equivalent to DKK 909.7 million, or approximately £100 million, putting the group within sight of the billion mark.

Andreas Karlsson, CEO, Sticks’n’Sushi
Andreas Karlsson, CEO of Sticks’n’Sushi, says:
“2025 was a year of real progress for Sticks’n’Sushi, as we consolidated our performance across our existing restaurant portfolio and took important steps forward in our strategic plan.
Our continued international expansion marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the company. Delivering results across all markets and channels while opening new restaurants is something we never take for granted.”
The company reported EBITDA of DKK 70.3 million, while no other financial figures were included in the announcement. The Danish company reported a bottom line of DKK 11.6 million in its accounts.
British investment firm now owns the chain
None of the founders are still involved in the business. In 2024, the chain was acquired by British investment firm McWin Capital Partners from Maj Invest. At the time, the founders held a minority stake in the company.
McWin Capital Partners is a UK-based investment firm founded by Henry McGovern and Steven K. Winegar. The firm has a strong portfolio in the restaurant sector, including Gail’s Bakery, Big Mamma and L’Osteria.
Andreas Karlsson previously spoke about the partnership:
“McWin is an owner that strongly supports us in continuing our growth. My approach is always to open one restaurant at a time and give it the same attention and care as if it were the first restaurant. McWin supports that approach. They care deeply about protecting our values and our DNA.”
